Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Drill (VAS 5134)

6 mm spiral drill

2.5 mm spiral drill

Pop Rivet Pliers (VAS 5072)

To remove the alarm horn, anti-theft alarm system must be deactivated. Refer to=> [ Anti-Theft Alarm System, Activating and Deactivating, Through 05.11 ] Anti-Theft Alarm System, Activating and Deactivating, Through 05.11.

The alarm horn is located in the right wheel housing on the A-pillar.

Removal

- Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the ignition key.

- Remove the right front wheel housing liner.

- Using the (VAS 5134) and a 6 mm spiral drill, drill out the two pop rivets - arrows -.






- Use a small screwdriver to release and disconnect the harness connector through the opening in the housing.






- Remove the alarm horn together with the housing from the wheel housing.

- Using the (VAS 5134) and a 2.5 mm spiral drill, drill out and remove the remaining parts - arrows -.






Installation

Thoroughly remove all metal shavings from the bore holes and the remaining parts of the old pop rivets.

- Perform the necessary corrosion protection measures.

- Connect the connector to the alarm horn and lock it in place.

- Check the function of the alarm horn via the output diagnostic test mode. Refer to=> [ Alarm Horn (H12), Checking ] Testing and Inspection.

For clarity, the alarm horn is not shown in the following figure and the connector is not connected.

- Guide the clip - 2 - of the alarm horn into the body cut-out - 1 -.






- Secure the alarm horn with the (VAS 5072) and new pop rivets.

- Install the right front wheel housing liner.
