1 Outer Constant Velocity (CV) Joint

• Replace only as a complete unit.

• Removing, refer to => [ Removing the Outer Constant Velocity (CV) Joint ] Drive Axle, Triple Roller Joint AAR3300i, Mounted on Stub Shaft.

• Installing: Drive onto the shaft using a plastic hammer until the compressed circlip seats.

• Checking, refer to => [ Outer CV Joint, Checking ] Outer CV Joint, Checking.

2 Bolt

• There are different versions.

• Allocation, refer to the Parts Catalog.

• There are 2 types of twelve point bolts, with and without ribs.

• When installing a twelve point bolt, always check what type of twelve point bolt is to be used.

• Use the correct tightening specification for the specific bolt.

• The tightening specification for a twelve point bolt with ribs is 70 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4). For the loosening and tightening specifications, refer to => [ Drive Axle Bolt Loosening and Tightening, Twelve Point Bolt with Ribs ] Drive Axle Bolt Loosening and Tightening, Twelve Point Bolt with Ribs.

• The tightening specification for a twelve point bolt without ribs is 200 Nm + an additional 180° (1/2) turn. • Always replace if removed.

3 Lock Ring

• Always replace if removed.

• Insert in the shaft groove.

4 Clamp

• Always replace if removed.

• Tensioning, refer to => [ Tightening Hose Clamp on the Outer CV Joint Boot ] Drive Axle, CV Joint VL100.

5 Outer CV Joint Boot

• Check for tears and scuffing.

• Material: Hytre (Polyelastomere).

6 Clamp

• Always replace if removed.

• Tensioning, refer to => [ Tensioning the Small Diameter Clamp ] Drive Axle, CV Joint VL100.

7 Axle Shaft

8 Clamp

• Always replace if removed.

• Tension using hose clamp pliers (V.A.G 1275).

9 Inner CV Joint Boot

• Check for tears and scuffing.

10 Clamp

• Always replace if removed.

• Tension using hose clamp pliers (V.A.G 1275).

11 Triple Roller Star with Rollers

The chamfer - arrow - points to the axle shaft splines.

12 Lock Ring

• Always replace if removed.

• Insert in the shaft groove.
