Selector Shaft Lever Seal, Transmission Removed

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Sleeve (VW 423)

• Pulling Hook (T20143)

• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

- Remove the selector lever cable from the transmission. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, through 02.09 ] Service and Repair.

- Remove the nut - arrow - and carefully pry the lever - A - off the selector shaft.






- Pry out the seal.






- Lightly oil the outer circumference of the new seal.

- Fill the space between the sealing and dust lips half way with sealing grease for seal (G 052 128 A1).

- Install the seal all the way in without tilting it.






- Install the lever and tighten the nut to 20 Nm.

The selector shaft lever fits on the splines in one position only.

- Install the selector lever cable to the transmission. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, through 02.09 ] Service and Repair.
