Selector Mechanism without Housing, from 03.09

Short Description






The selector mechanism and the selector lever cable cannot be separated from each other. Both are removed at the same time.

Remove the center console inside the passenger compartment.

It is necessary to remove the heat shield under the vehicle.

The selector mechanism with selector lever cable can be removed and installed together with the selector housing. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism with Housing, from 03.09 ] Selector Mechanism with Housing, from 03.09.

Removing

- Move the selector lever into the "P" position.






- Remove the selector lever handle. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Handle ] Selector Lever Handle.

- Remove the center console.

- Disconnect the harness connector - 1 - from the selector mechanism.






- Remove the air filter housing. Refer to one of the following:

• Gas engines

• Diesel engine

- Remove the lock washers - A and B -. The lock washers must later be replaced when adjusting selector lever cable.






Loosen the adjustment bolt - arrow -.

Use pliers to remove the lock washer - B -. Do not use a sharp edged tool. Otherwise the selector lever cable could get damaged.

- Remove the center tunnel heat shield under the selector mechanism.

- Remove the 4 bolts.






Tightening specification: 8 Nm.

- Remove the selector mechanism.






Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal.

• Do not bend or kink the selector lever cable.

• Do not lubricate the selector lever cable.

• Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Selector Mechanism Overview, from 03.09 ] Selector Mechanism Overview, from 03.09.

- Install the heat shield under the selector mechanism.

- Install the center console.

- Install the selector lever handle. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Handle ] Selector Lever Handle.

- Adjust the selector lever cable. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Checking ] Selector Lever Cable, Checking.

- Check the selector mechanism. Refer to => [ Selector Mechanism, Checking ] Selector Mechanism, Checking.

- Install the air filter housing, refer to one of the following:

• Gas engines

• Diesel engine
