Transmission, Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. However, important steps should be named here:
- Check the needle bearing in the crankshaft. If it is damaged or has blue tarnish, it must be replaced. Refer to the following:
Gas engines
- If it is not damaged, lubricate lightly with high temperature grease (G 052 133 A2).
- Transmission pins (not splines) must also be lightly lubricated.
- Make sure both alignment sleeves between the engine and the transmission fit correctly.
- Make sure the intermediate plate fits correctly.
The engine and transmission must be brought together by hand until both flanges touch all around!
If this is not the case, it will not run correctly!
- Adjust the transmission mount until the engine and transmission are aligned.
Pay attention to the selector lever cable when lifting the transmission. Guide the cable into the cable bracket as early as possible.
Do not grease the cable.
- The selector lever cable lock washers - arrows - must be replaced.
- Check the selector lever cable and adjust it, if necessary. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Checking ] Selector Lever Cable, Checking.
- Check the coolant level and fill, if necessary. Refer to the following:
Gas engines
- Check the Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG(R)) fluid level and fill as necessary. Refer to => [ Transmission Oil Level, Checking and Filling ] Transmission Oil Level, Checking and Filling.
Tightening Specifications, refer the following:
