Right Stub/Flange Shaft and Seal, FWD
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Pressure Piece (3377)
• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)
• Torque Wrench (40-200 Nm) (V.A.G 1332)
• Sealing Grease for Seal (G 052 128 A1)
• Universal Grease (G 052 735 A2)
Removing
- Remove the right wheel.
- Remove the noise insulation.
- Remove the right drive axle.
with an Intermediate Shaft
- After removing the right drive axle - A -, remove the intermediate shaft - B - from the bracket - C - - arrows - and from the transmission stub shaft.
Continuation for All
- Place a drip tray under the transmission.
- Remove the stub shaft bolt - arrow - or the flange shaft bolt.
- Remove the stub shaft or the flange shaft together with the spring.
- Pry out the seal.
Installing
- Lightly oil the new seal on the outer circumference.
- Fill the space between the sealing and dust lip half way with sealing grease for seal (G 052 128 A1).
- Install the seal until seated using the pressure piece (3377).
- Install the stub shaft or flange shaft.
- Attach the stub shaft or the flange shaft with a new countersunk bolt and tighten it to 30 Nm.
with an Intermediate Shaft
- Replace the O-ring on the stub shaft.
- Lubricate the splines on the stub shaft with grease for clutch plate splines (G 000 100).
- Guide the intermediate shaft - B - through the bracket - C - and onto the stub shaft.
- Attach the intermediate shaft to the bracket - arrows -.
Continuation for All
- Install the right drive axle.
- Install the right wheel.
- Check the fluid level and fill, if necessary. Refer to => [ Transmission Oil Level, Checking and Filling ] Transmission Oil Level, Checking and Filling.
- Install the noise insulation.
