Shock Absorber, with Adaptive Chassis DCC

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (40-200 Nm) (V.A.G 1332)

Removing

- Remove the wheel.

- Remove the wheel housing liner..

Left Side Shock Absorber Only

- Remove the left rear level control system sensor from the lower track control arm.

Continuation for Both Sides

- Remove the coil spring. Refer to => [ Coil Spring ] Coil Spring.

- Disconnect the connector and remove the wire from the shock absorber






- Remove the shock absorber to body bolts.






Left Side Shock Absorber Only

- Remove the rear body acceleration sensor from the shock absorber mount.

Continuation for Both Sides

- Remove the shock absorber lower bolt - arrow - from the wheel bearing housing.






- Remove the shock absorber.

Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:

The bolted connection of the shock absorber to the wheel bearing housing must only be tightened when dimension "a" is achieved. Refer to => [ Tightening of the respective bolts/nuts must then only occur after dimension between the wheel hub center and the lower edge of the wheel housing has been attained. ] Rear Subframe.

Note the shock absorber installed position.






The left and right rear dampening adjustment valves must point toward the outside of the rear wheel.

Left Side Shock Absorber Only

- Install the rear body acceleration sensor to the shock absorber mount






- Mount the bracket on the shock absorber mount from the rear, so that the bracket tabs - 1 - fit into the depressions on the shock absorber mount.

- Turn the bracket forward so that it contacts the shock absorber mount.

The tab - arrow - is used for adjusting the rear body acceleration sensor bracket.



Continuation for Both Sides

- Install the shock absorber and tighten the bolts.

- Tighten the shock absorber lower bolt - arrow - at the wheel bearing housing.






- Connect the connector to the left and right rear dampening adjustment valves.

- Install the coil spring. Refer to => [ Coil Spring ] Coil Spring.

Left Side Shock Absorber Only

- Connect the left rear level control system sensor to the lower track control arm.

Continuation for Both Sides

- Install the wheel housing liner..

- Install the wheel and tighten the wheel bolts. Refer to => [ Wheel Bolt Tightening Specifications ] [1][2]Specifications.
