Wheel Bearing Housing Bonded Rubber Bushing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Support Arm Bearing Inst. Tool (3346)
• Carrier Bearing Inst. Tool (3350)
• Fitting Sleeve (3378)
• Carrier (3390)
• Torque Wrench (40-200 Nm) (V.A.G 1332)
Removing
- Remove the wheel.
- Remove the coil spring. Refer to => [ Coil Spring ] Coil Spring.
- Remove the brake carrier and brake caliper and tie them to the body with wire.
• Secure the brake caliper to the body with wire.
- Remove the brake rotor bolt and the brake rotor.
- Remove the cover plate.
- Remove the lower track control arm bolt - arrow - from the wheel bearing housing.
- Install the special tools as shown in illustration.

- Remove the bonded rubber bushing by turning the spindle.
Installing
- Install the special tools as shown in illustration.

5. Nut, commercially available
6. Spindle (3346/2)
- Install the bonded rubber bushing by turning the support arm bearing installation tool.
• Do not use lubricant!
• Insert the bearing with care so it is not tilted.
- Install the cover plate.
- Install the wheel bearing/wheel hub unit.
Connections to the wheel bearing housing must only be tightened when dimension "a" is achieved. Refer to => [ Tightening of the respective bolts/nuts must then only occur after dimension between the wheel hub center and the lower edge of the wheel housing has been attained. ] Rear Subframe.
- Tighten the lower track control arm bolt - arrow - to the wheel bearing housing.
- Install the coil spring. Refer to => [ Coil Spring ] Coil Spring.
- Install the brake rotor and bolt.
- Install the brake carrier and brake caliper.
- Install the wheel and tighten the wheel bolts. Refer to => [ Wheel Bolt Tightening Specifications ] [1][2]Specifications.
