Hydraulic Fluid Temperature Sensor: Service and Repair
Transmission Input Speed Sensor G182 and Clutch Oil Temperature Sensor G509
Short Description
Both sensors are a single component and can only be replaced together. They are coated with oil in the transmission near the Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG(R)) clutch. Before removing, the DSG(R) transmission Mechatronic must be removed.
Often, the sensor wire is pulled. This damages it. If the wire was pulled, then the sensor must be replaced.
Removing
- Remove the DSG(R) transmission Mechatronic. Refer to => [ DSG(R) Transmission Mechatronic J743, Transmission Installed ] DSG(R) Transmission Mechatronic J743, Transmission Installed.
Do not pull on the wire.
- Remove the bolt and carefully pry out the sensor with a screwdriver or pliers.
Installing
Install an old sensor only if:
• The sensor is working correctly.
• The wire was not pulled out during removal.
If this is not the case, you should install a new sensor.
- Coat the sensor with DSG(R) oil and then install it.
- Tighten the bolt to 10 Nm.
- Install the DSG(R) transmission Mechatronic. Refer to => [ DSG(R) Transmission Mechatronic J743, Transmission Installed ] DSG(R) Transmission Mechatronic J743, Transmission Installed.
Do not pinch the wire when installing the Mechatronic unit!
