Transmission Fluid, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

• Triple Square Socket Driver (3357) (For plugs with a multipoint fitting)

For the correct transmission fluid, refer to the Parts Catalog.

- Remove the noise insulation. Refer to one of the following:

GTI (2006-2009), Golf/GTI (from 2010) and Passat

- Remove the plug - arrow -.






The level is correct when the transmission fluid comes up to the bottom edge of the hole.

- Install the plug - arrow - with a new seal.

- Tighten the plug - arrow - to specification.

Note the following when filling for the first time:

- Remove the plug - arrow -.

- Add transmission fluid until it reaches the lower edge of the hole.

- Install the plug - arrow - with a new seal.

- Tighten the plug - arrow - to specification.

- Install the noise insulation. Refer to one of the following:

GTI (2006-2009), Golf/GTI (from 2010) and Passat

Different Versions of the Oil Fill and Drain Plugs





I - Oil fill or drain plug with a multipoint socket head, 45 Nm

II - Oil fill or drain plug with a hex socket head, 30 Nm
