Headlamp Range Control Positioning Motor, Halogen Headlamp
• The following illustrations show removing and installing the left headlamp range control positioning motor (V48).
• Removing and installing the right headlamp beam adjustment motor (V49) is identical.
Removing
- Turn off the ignition and all electric consumers and turn the key to the 0 position.
- Remove the headlamp. Refer to => [ Headlamp ] Headlamp.
- Remove the cap - 1 - and the cap - 2 -.
- Pull the adjuster - arrow - out of the headlamp housing.
- Turn the headlamp range control positioning motor - 1 - all the way in - direction of arrow -.
- Disconnect the connector - 1 - from the motor.
- Tilt the ball head of the control motor - 1 - upward out of the mount in the headlamp and remove the control motor - 2 - from the headlamp housing.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Install the headlamp range control positioning motor into the headlamp and connect the connector.
- Tilt the ball head of the headlamp beam adjustment motor - 1 - from above into the mount - 2 - while pulling the reflector backward.
- Insert the motor into the mount and turn it all the way to the right until it locks into place.
- Insert the adjuster into the headlamp housing.
• Make sure the caps fit correctly when installing them. It is destroyed by ingress of water into headlamp.
- Install the caps.
- Check headlamp for functions.
- Check the headlamp adjustment and correct it if necessary.
