Headlamp Range Control Positioning Motor, Halogen Headlamp

The following illustrations show removing and installing the left headlamp range control positioning motor (V48).

Removing and installing the right headlamp beam adjustment motor (V49) is identical.

Removing

- Turn off the ignition and all electric consumers and turn the key to the 0 position.

- Remove the headlamp. Refer to => [ Headlamp ] Headlamp.

- Remove the cap - 1 - and the cap - 2 -.






- Pull the adjuster - arrow - out of the headlamp housing.






- Turn the headlamp range control positioning motor - 1 - all the way in - direction of arrow -.

- Disconnect the connector - 1 - from the motor.






- Tilt the ball head of the control motor - 1 - upward out of the mount in the headlamp and remove the control motor - 2 - from the headlamp housing.






Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Install the headlamp range control positioning motor into the headlamp and connect the connector.

- Tilt the ball head of the headlamp beam adjustment motor - 1 - from above into the mount - 2 - while pulling the reflector backward.






- Insert the motor into the mount and turn it all the way to the right until it locks into place.

- Insert the adjuster into the headlamp housing.

Make sure the caps fit correctly when installing them. It is destroyed by ingress of water into headlamp.

- Install the caps.

- Check headlamp for functions.

- Check the headlamp adjustment and correct it if necessary.
