Headlamp Beam Adjustment Motor, Halogen Headlamp

• If the adjustment motors are removed and installed, check the headlamp adjustment and correct if necessary. Refer to => Maintenance Procedures.

• The following illustrations show the procedure for replacing the right headlamp beam adjustment motor (V49). If the left headlamp beam adjusting motor is removed and installed, only open one of the assembly openings with breaking points to access the bolts. After completing the work, seal the assembly openings with plugs that are ordered separately.

Removing

- Remove the headlamp. Refer to => [ Headlamp ] Headlamp.

- Open the cover cap - 1 - by rotating it to the left and remove it.






- Place a socket (SW 5) on plastic hex head on rear side of headlamp housing.






- Press and rotate the plastic hexagons out of the headlamp housing to break through both assembly openings - arrows -.

• Only one plastic hexagon needs to be broken out of the left headlamp to access the positioning motor bolts.

• Do not leave that pieces that have broken off in the headlamp. Remove them from the headlamp housing if necessary.

- Remove both mounting bolts - arrows - (T20) from the headlamp range control positioning motor - 1 - and remove them from the headlamp housing.






- Raise the headlamp reflector slightly and tilt the ball head on the positioning motor - 1 - down out of the ball head mount - 2 -.






- Remove the headlamp beam positioning motor fro the headlamp. Be careful of the connected wires.

- Disconnect the connector - 1 - and remove the headlamp beam adjusting motor - 2 -.






Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Insert the headlamp range control positioning motor - 1 - in the headlamp.






- Raise the low beam reflector slightly and tilt the ball head on the positioning motor - 2 - from below into the ball head mount - 3 -.

- Install both headlamp range control motor mounting bolts and tighten them to the specification shown in => [ Halogen Headlamps ] Halogen Headlamps.

• When installing cap, ensure proper seating. It is destroyed by entry of water into headlamp.

- Install the cap.

- Seal the opened assembly openings with plugs ordered separately. Refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

- Check headlamp for function.

- Check the headlamp adjustment and adjust if necessary.
