Assembly Carrier







Assembly Carrier

Make a drawing or take a picture when loosening or removing electrical wires. This ensures installation is the same as the original.

Removing

- Remove instrument panel:

Passat from MY 2006, Passat Wagon from MY 2006 and Passat CC from MY 2009, refer to => [ Instrument Cluster Trim, Passat from MY 2006, Passat Wagon from MY 2006, and Passat CC from MY 2009 ] Instrument Cluster Trim, Passat from MY 2006, Passat Wagon from MY 2006, and Passat CC from MY 2009.

CC from MY 2010, refer to => [ Instrument Panel, Removing and Installing, CC from MY 2010 ] Instrument Panel, Removing and Installing, CC from MY 2010.


- Remove the parking aid control module (J446) , if equipped.

- If equipped, remove the parallel parking assistance control module (J791)

- If equipped, remove the headlamp range/cornering lamp control module (J745)

- Remove the plenum chamber bolt - 1 - (20 Nm).






- Remove the screws - 1 - (3.5 Nm) and disconnect the connector - 2 -.






- Remove the intermediate pieces - 1 - and - 2 - from the A/C unit.






- Remove the screws - 1 - (4 Nm) and move the fuse panel C (SC) - 2 - to the side.






- Remove the wiring harness from the assembly carrier - arrow -.






- Remove the wiring harness from the assembly carrier - arrow -.






- Unscrew the bolts - 1 - and - 2 - (4 Nm).






- Remove the wiring harnesses from the assembly carrier - arrows -.






- Remove the screws - 1 - (20 Nm).

- Remove the screws - 1 - (20 Nm).






- Remove the wiring harnesses from the assembly carrier - arrows -.

- Remove the wiring harness from the assembly carrier - arrow -.






- Remove the screws - 1 -, - 2 - and - 3 - (9 Nm).






Using a scriber, mark the height and side position of the assembly carrier in the vehicle around the nuts - 1 - and - 2 -.

- Remove the two nuts - 1 - and - 2 - (20 Nm) on the driver side.






Using a scriber, mark the height and side position of the assembly carrier in the vehicle around the nut - 1 -.

- Remove the wiring harness from the assembly carrier - arrow -.






- Remove the nut - 1 - (20 Nm) on the passenger side.

- With a second technician, carefully remove the assembly carrier - 1 - from the vehicle.






Installing

- Install in reverse order of removal.

Before installing the assembly carrier, line it up with the markings made before it was removed.
