Outer Door Seal

Outer Door Seal

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Roller (3356)

The Passat CC only has only a lower part of the outer door seal as a result of the frameless doors.

The following describes removing and installing the left door outer seal only. Removing and installing the right door outer seal is identical.

Remove protective film just prior to assembly. The processing temperature is approximately 20 °C.

Removing

- Remove the outer door seal - 1 - from the door.

- Remove any of the remaining adhesive with the detent plate for the adhesive remover (VAS 6349).

Installing

- Clean the adhesive surface with adhesive remover thoroughly before bonding the outer door seal.

The adhesive surface must be free of dust, grease and adhesive residue.

- Remove the adhesive tape protective film slightly at both ends.

- First slide the ends into the opening - arrow a - for the seal shaft - 2 - and into the opening - arrow b - for the mirror triangle - 3 -.

- Remove the protective film on adhesive tape and then press the seal - 1 - on the door.

The figure is only an example. The Passat CC does not have any window frames.

- Press the entire adhesive surface for the seal- 3 - to the door - 1 - firmly all the way around with the roller (3356).

- This way, the seal is pressed to the side - arrow a - so that the roller (3356) comes into direct contact with the seal contact surface.

The force - arrow b - of the application roller only really reaches the adhesive surface - 2 - as described above.

- If the seal has become too long, cut it back to the correct length and press on the joint area.

- If the seal - 3 - comes loose again in small areas, press these on again with the application roller (3356).

To ensure that the outer door seal does not loosen or slide again, do not close the door for 2 hours.
