Roof Insulation/Reinforcements, Removing and Installing, Passat Wagon from MY 2006

• An exemplary Passat from MY 2006 without a sunroof is shown in the following description. For the Passat wagon from MY 2006 with/without sunroof, removing and installing the roof insulation/reinforcements is performed accordingly.

Removing

Vehicles with sunroof:

- Open sunroof.

- Switch off the ignition.

- Remove the front and rear interior and reading lamps in the headliner => Electrical Equipment.

- Remove storage compartment with console in headliner => [ Storage Compartment with Console in Headliner ] Storage Compartment with Console in Headliner

- Remove upper trim on A-pillars => [ A-Pillar Upper Trim, Passat from MY 2006 and Passat Wagon from MY 2006 ] A-Pillar Upper Trim, Passat from MY 2006 and Passat Wagon from MY 2006

- Remove sun visors.

- Remove roof grab handle => [ Roof Grab Handles ] Service and Repair

- Remove upper B-pillar trim => [ B-Pillar Upper Trim, Passat from MY 2006 and Passat Wagon from MY 2006 ]

- Remove the C-pillar trim, Passat Wagon from MY 2006, refer to => [ C-Pillar Trim, Passat Wagon from MY 2006 ]

Vehicles with rear side-airbag:

- Disconnect the battery.

All vehicles:

- Remove the lock carrier cover, Passat Wagon from MY 2006, refer to => [ Lock Carrier Cover, Passat Wagon from MY 2006 ] Lock Carrier Cover, Passat Wagon from MY 2006

- Fold left bench seat and its backrest forward.

- Remove the side cushion:

• With rear side airbag, refer to => [ Side Upholstery with Side Airbag ] Side Upholstery with Side Airbag

• without rear side airbags => [ Side Upholstery without Side Airbag ] Side Upholstery without Side Airbag

- Remove the luggage compartment side trim panel, Passat Wagon from MY 2006:

- Remove D-pillar trim panels => [ D-Pillar Trim, Passat Wagon from MY 2006 ].

Vehicles in which an interior rearview mirror with rain sensor is installed:

All vehicles:

- Remove the headliner for the Passat Wagon from MY 2006, refer to => [ Headliner, Removing and Installing, Passat Wagon from MY 2006 ] Headliner, Removing and Installing, Passat Wagon from MY 2006.

- Cut roof insulation/reinforcements - 1 - in direction of travel in strips approx. 6 cm wide - 2 - using a carpet knife.

- Pull off strips - 2 - from roof.

- Cut back the adhesive residue - 3 - using the electric cutter (V.A.G 1561 A) and the cutting blade (V.A.G 1561/20) - 4 -.






Installing

• Processing instructions of adhesive must be observed when installing roof insulation/reinforcements.

- Apply adhesive D 190 MKD A3 on to insulation/reinforcements using cartridge gun (V.A.G 1628).

- - a - = 67 +/- 2 mm.

- - b - = 34 +/- 5 mm

- - c - = 23 +/- 5 mm

- Transport roof insulation/reinforcements into vehicle through rear lid and press on to roof over the entire surface.
