Removing

Vehicles with sunroof

- Open sunroof.

All vehicles

- Switch off the ignition.

Vehicles in which an interior rearview mirror with rain sensor is installed

- Remove the interior rearview mirror with rain sensor => [ Interior Rearview Mirror with Rain Sensor ] Interior Rearview Mirror with Rain Sensor

All vehicles

- Remove the front and rear interior and reading lamps in the headliner => Electrical Equipment.

- Remove storage compartment with console in headliner => [ Storage Compartment with Console in Headliner ] Storage Compartment with Console in Headliner

- Remove upper trim on A-pillars => [ A-Pillar Upper Trim, Passat from MY 2006 and Passat Wagon from MY 2006 ] A-Pillar Upper Trim, Passat from MY 2006 and Passat Wagon from MY 2006

- Remove sun visors.

- Remove roof grab handle => [ Roof Grab Handles ] Service and Repair

- Fold the front seat back rests forward.

- Remove upper B-pillar trim => [ B-Pillar Upper Trim, Passat from MY 2006 and Passat Wagon from MY 2006 ]

- Remove the C pillar trim, Passat from MY 2006:

• Vehicles without sun shade => [ C-Pillar Trim Panel, Vehicles without Sun Shade, Passat from MY 2006 ] C-Pillar Trim Panel, Vehicles without Sun Shade, Passat from MY 2006

• Vehicles with sun shade => [ C-Pillar Trim Panel, Vehicles with Sun Shade, Passat from MY 2006 ] C-Pillar Trim Panel, Vehicles with Sun Shade, Passat from MY 2006

- Remove the roof end strip, Passat from MY 2006, refer to => [ Roof End Strip, Passat from MY 2006 ] Roof End Strip, Passat from MY 2006

Vehicles with sunroof

- Push the wedge (T10039/1) between frame - 1 - and headliner - 2 -.

- Using the release lever (T10039/1) , separate the frame in - direction of the arrow - from the headliner, the whole way around.






All vehicles

- In rear window transition area, remove four screws - 1 - (2 Nm).

- Remove headliner from door seal moldings.

- Lower headliner slightly and (depending on vehicle equipment) disconnect wiring harnesses from headliner.






Installing

- Installation is in reverse order of removal.

• The installation of the headliner is made much easier by replacing clips "part number: 1K0 867 633" below the roof grab handle. Therefore, replacing the old clips is recommended.
