Front Bumper Cover and Radiator Grille Parking Aid Sensor Bracket, Bonding
Front Bumper Cover and Radiator Grille Parking Aid Sensor Bracket, Bonding
When bonding the sensor bracket in the front bumper cover and in the radiator grille, make sure the bracket is centered with the punch hole in the cover or grille because there are no other visual reference points. If the sensor bracket is not bonded exactly in the center of the punch hole, the decoupling ring (black silicone ring) on the sensor will be under pressure after installation and cause the parking aid system to malfunction. Make sure that material temperature of radiator protective grille and sensor bracket is between 15 °C (59 °F) and 25 °C (77 °F) when bonding.
• The same procedure is used to bond the parking aid sensor bracket both to the front bumper cover and to the radiator grille so it is only described once.
- Completely remove the rest of the old sensor bracket from the bumper cover.
- Thoroughly clean the adhesive area - 4 - on the inner side of the bumper cover or radiator grille with isopropyl alcohol.
- Apply bonding agent "Scotchmount 4298" evenly in the adhesive area - 4 - around the punch hole.
- Allow bonding agent to air dry approximately 5 minutes.
- Assign the sensor bracket to be bonded to its correct component location. Refer to => [ Parking Aid Sensor Bracket Allocation to Installation Location in Front Bumper Cover and Radiator Grille ] Parking Aid Sensor Bracket Allocation to Installation Location in Front Bumper Cover and Radiator Grille.
- Insert the sensor - 3 - with the decoupling ring - 2 - (black silicone ring) in the sensor bracket - 1 - until both retaining clips engage audibly.
- Pull off both protective foils from adhesive surface of sensor bracket - 1 - until a gray surface appears.
- Center the sensor head with the punch hole in the bumper cover or radiator grille.
• If the sensor head is not centered exactly with the punch hole in the bumper cover or radiator grille, the decoupling ring (black silicone ring) on the sensor will be under pressure after assembly and cause the parking aid system to malfunction.
- Firmly press the sensor bracket into the bumper cover or radiator grille for approximately 10 seconds.
• The contact pressure and pressing time are crucial for the adhesive durability!
