Wiper Arm: Adjustments

Windshield Wiper Arms, Adjusting

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)

Procedure

- Deactivate the APP function. Refer to => [ Wiper Motor Control Module (J400), Deactivating Alternating Park Position ] Testing and Inspection.

- Let the wiper return to its park position and then turn off the ignition.

- Adjust the windshield wiper arms at this time.

Driver side






Distance - a - between tips of wiper lips and upper edge of plenum chamber cover must be 10 mm.

- If necessary, adjust the windshield wiper blade park position by repositioning the windshield wiper arm.

- Remove the windshield wiper arms. Refer to => [ Wiper Arm ] Service and Repair.

- Tighten the threaded connection to the tightening specification. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper System Overview ] Windshield Wiper System Overview.

Passenger side






Distance - b - between tips of wiper lips and upper edge of plenum chamber cover must be 10 mm.

- If necessary, adjust the windshield wiper blade park position by repositioning the windshield wiper arm.

- Remove the windshield wiper arms. Refer to => [ Wiper Arm ] Service and Repair.

- Tighten the threaded connection to the tightening specification. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper System Overview ] Windshield Wiper System Overview.
