Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Depth gauge
Note the following whenever working inside the engine compartment due to limited space:
• Route all lines and wires in their original locations.
• Ensure sufficient clearance to all moving or hot components.
Removing
- Remove the transmission.
- Lock the crankshaft, refer to => [ Crankshaft, Locking ] Procedures and remove the drive plate bolt and plate.
Installing
- Install the drive plate with only the washer - 1 -.
- Install new bolts - 3 - and tighten them to 30 Nm.
- Check the dimension - a - at three points and calculate the mean value.
Specified value: 18.8 to 20.4 mm
• Measure through the drive plate hole to the control housing cover surface.
If the specification is not obtained:
- Remove the drive plate and install the shim - 2 -, drive plate and the washer - 1 -. Reinstall the bolts - 3 - and tighten them to 30 Nm again, then repeat the measurement.
If the specification is obtained:
- Tighten the bolts to 60 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn, the additional turn can occur in several stages.
The rest of the installation follows the reverse of the removal procedures. When doing this note the following:
• Remove the locking pin (T40069) from the cylinder block and install the plug (30 Nm).
