Drive Axle Overview, with Triple Roller Joint AAR3300i






1 Outer CV Joint

• Replace only as complete unit.

• Removing, refer to => [ Removing the Outer CV Joint ] Drive Axle with Triple Roller Joint AAR3300i.

• Installing: Drive onto shaft using plastic hammer until compressed circlip seats.

• Checking, refer to => [ Outer CV Joint, Checking ] Outer CV Joint, Checking.

2 Bolt

• 200 Nm + 90° turn

• Always replace if removed.

• Bolt, loosening and tightening, refer to => [ Wheel bearings must not be burdened when drive axle connection is loose. ] Drive Axle with Tripod Joint AAR3300i.

3 Securing Ring

• Always replace if removed.

• Insert in shaft groove.

4 Thrust Washer

• Installed position, refer to => [ Installed Location of Spring Washer and Thrust Washer on Outer Joint ] Drive Axle with Triple Roller Joint AAR3300i.

5 Dished Washer

• Installed position, refer to => [ Installed Location of Spring Washer and Thrust Washer on Outer Joint ] Drive Axle with Triple Roller Joint AAR3300i.

6 Clamp

• Always replace if removed.

• Tensioning, refer to => [ Tightening Hose Clamp on Outer Joint ] Drive Axle with Triple Roller Joint AAR3300i.

7 CV Boot

• Check for tears and scuffing.

• Material: Hytrel (Polyelastomer).

8 Clamp

• Always replace if removed.

• Tensioning, refer to => [ Tightening the Tensioning Clamp on the Smaller Diameter on the Inner/Outer Joint ] Drive Axle with Triple Roller Joint AAR3300i.

9 Drive Axle

10 Clamp

• Always replace if removed.

• Tensioning, refer to => [ Tightening the Tensioning Clamp on the Smaller Diameter on the Inner/Outer Joint ] Drive Axle with Triple Roller Joint AAR3300i.

11 Protective Joint Boot for Triple Roller Joint

• Check for tears and scuffing.

12 Clamp

• Always replace if removed.

• Tensioning, refer to => [ Tightening the tensioning clamps on the larger diameter on the inner joint. ] Drive Axle with Triple Roller Joint AAR3300i.

13 Triple Roller Star with Rollers

The chamfer - arrow - points to drive axle splines.

14 Securing Ring

• Always replace if removed.

• Insert in shaft groove.

15 Bolt

• M10 x 23

• First tighten diagonally to 10 Nm, then tighten diagonally again to the tightening specification.

• 70 Nm
