Fluid Pan: Service and Repair






Transmission Fluid Pan

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Drip Tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1783)

Removing

- Remove the noise insulation under the transmission.

- Place a drip tray underneath.

- Remove the inspection plug - A -.






- Remove the overflow tube - C - and drain any remaining fluid.

- Loosen the transmission fluid pan bolts - arrows - diagonally.






Some residual fluid will remain in the oil pan.

- Remove the pan and pan gasket.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal while observing the following:

- Clean the two magnets in the pan. Make sure the magnets touch the pan completely.

- Check the gasket for damage and make sure all of the spacers (quantity: 8) are present.

Otherwise, replace the gasket.

- Install the pan and gasket, when doing this be sure not to pinch any wires.

- Make sure the pan gasket fits correctly.

- Install and tighten the pan bolts - arrows - diagonally and in several steps. For the correct tightening specification, refer to => [ Fastener Tightening Specifications ] Fastener Tightening Specifications - Gears, Hydraulic Controls.






- Install the overflow tube - C -. For the correct tightening specification, refer to => [ Fastener Tightening Specifications ] Fastener Tightening Specifications - Gears, Hydraulic Controls.






- Replace the seal - B - for the plug - A -.

- Install the plug - A - with the new seal - B - hand tight only.

- Fill the transmission fluid and check the level. Refer to => [ Transmission Fluid Level, Checking and Filling ] Transmission Fluid Level, Checking and Filling.

- Install the noise insulation.
