Engine Oil Pressure: Testing and Inspection

Oil Pressure, Checking

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Oil Pressure Gauge (V.A.G 1342)

Requirements:

• The oil level is OK

• The engine oil temperature is approximately 80 °C (176 °F).

- Disconnect the connector - 2 - from the reduced oil pressure switch (F378) (brown).

- Remove the reduced oil pressure switch.

- Connect the oil pressure gauge (V.A.G 1342) into the opening for the oil pressure switch.

- Install the reduced oil pressure switch to the oil pressure gauge.

- Start the engine.

• Oil pressure at idle: 1.2 to 2.1 bar.

• Oil pressure at 2000 RPM: 1.6 to 2.1 bar.

• Oil pressure at 3700 RPM: 3.0 to 4.0 bar.

• During the first 1000 km, the oil pressure may be at 2000/min at 3.0 to 4.0 bar.

If the specification is not obtained:

- Check the screen in the oil intake pipe for contamination.

- Install the reduced oil pressure switch.
