Removal and Replacement
Crankshaft Overview
• The engine is to be secured to the engine lateral bracket (T03001) when performing repair work.
1 Bolt
• 40 Nm + 90° (1/4) additional turn
• Always replace.
• Fully threaded.
• Tighten to 40 Nm (but not any further) to measure the crankshaft radial play.
2 Bearing Cap
• Bearing cap 1: Belt pulley side.
• The tabs on the bearing shells and the cylinder block/bearing caps must align with one another.
3 Bearing Shell, for the Bearing Cap
• Without a lubricating groove.
• Do not interchange used bearing shells (mark them).
4 Crankshaft
• Axial play:
New: 0.07 to 0.21 mm
Wear limit: 0.30 mm
• Measure the radial clearance using Plastigage(R):
New: 0.023 to 0.043 mm
wear limit: 0.07 mm
• Do not rotate the crankshaft when measuring the radial play.

• Locking the crankshaft, refer to => [ Crankshaft, Locking ] Procedures.
5 Thrust Washers
• For bearing 3.
• The side lubricating grooves face outward.
6 Bearing Shell, for the Cylinder Block
• With a lubricating groove.
• Allocating, refer to => [ Main Bearing Shell, Allocation ] Service and Repair.
• Do not interchange used bearing shells (mark them).
