Front Passenger Seat Occupant Sensor G128

The front passenger seat occupant sensor (G128) does not have any influence on deploying the front passenger airbag during a crash.

The front passenger seat occupant sensor (G128) reminds the front passenger via a symbol in the instrument cluster as well as a warning tone in the instrument cluster, to buckle up.

On the front passenger side, a sensor is able to detect if the seat is occupied and if the seat belt has been buckled.

On the driver side, the sensor is only able to detect if the seat belts has been buckled.

Removing

- Attach the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136) to the engine/transmission holder (VAS 6095).

- Remove the front seat. Refer to => [ Front Seat ] Front Seat.

- Secure the seat on the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136).

- Remove the front and tunnel side tread for the seat cover from the lower seat frame.

- Fold up the seat cover along with the seat cushion.

- Unclip and remove the wiring harness for the front passenger seat occupant sensor (G128) from the lower seat frame.

- Remove the 2 clips - 2 - with the pry lever (80 - 200) from the lower seat frame and remove the front passenger seat occupant sensor (G128) - 1 -.






For the sake of clarity, the seat cover and seat cushion are not depicted in the figure.

Installation

Observe installation sequence for the clips:

- Position the front passenger seat occupant sensor (G128) - 1 - and the clip and secure - 2 - them.






- Insert the clip - 3 - and guide the wiring harness - 4 - through the lower seat frame.

- Secure the wiring harness - 4 - to the lower seat frame - arrow -.

- Connect the wiring harness to the vehicle electrical system.

Installing of remaining components is reverse of removal.

- After installation, perform a function check with the ignition on.
