Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair







Airbag Control Module J234

When working on the airbag control module (J234) , follow the general safety precautions for working on airbag, belt tensioner and battery cut-out units (pyrotechnic components), refer to => [ Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units General Safety Precautions ] Airbag, Belt Tensioner and Battery Cut-Out Units General Safety Precautions.

Removing

- Disconnect the battery.

- Remove the bolt - 1 - (1.5 Nm).






- Remove trim - 2 -.

The other parts of the center console do not need to be removed.

- Remove the nuts - 1 - (2.5 Nm).






- Remove the bracket - 2 - from the center tunnel.

- Open the locking mechanism - 1 - on the connector in - direction of arrow - and remove the wiring harness from the control module - 1 -.






The control module is shown in the illustration without the other components around it.

- Remove the nuts - 1 - (9 Nm).

- Remove the control module - 2 - from the center tunnel.






Installation

- Install in reverse order of removal.

- Turn on the ignition.

Make sure no one is in the vehicle.

- Connect the battery.

- Code the airbag control module (J234) if it was replaced. Refer to => [ Components, Adapting ] Components, Adapting.
