Engine and Transmission, Separating

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Shackle (10-222 A/12)

Shop Crane - Load Cap = 700-1200 KG (VAS 6100)

Conditions

The engine and transmission assembly is removed and mounted on the engine support (T10359).

Separating

- Remove the starter.

with a Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG(R))

- Remove the coolant hoses from the transmission oil cooler and seal off the openings.

Continuation for All

- Disconnect all electrical connections from the transmission to the engine and free them up.

- Install the shackle (10-222 A/12) to the transmission and hook the shop crane - load cap = 700-1200 KG (VAS 6100) to the shackle, but do not lift the transmission yet.






- Remove the upper engine/transmission bolts.

- Before removing the last bolts, tension the transmission using the shop crane - load cap = 700-1200 KG (VAS 6100).

- Remove the lower engine/transmission bolts.

- Separate the transmission from the engine; when doing this, guide the transmission.

Assembling

Assembly is performed in the reverse order of removal; pay attention to the tightening specifications:
