Removing
- Turn off the ignition.
Vehicles with automatic and DSG transmission
- Move the selector lever into "S".
Procedure for all vehicles
- Remove the parking brake lever trim.
Vehicles without center armrest
- Remove the liner from the center console.
- Remove the door - 1 - from the center console.
- Remove the bolts - 1 - (12 Nm) and remove the lower attachment - 2 -.
Vehicles with center armrest
- Remove center arm rest => [ Front Center Armrest ] Front Center Armrest.
- Remove the nut - 1 - (12 Nm) and then remove the mount - 2 -.
- Remove the bolts - 3 - (12 Nm) and remove the support foot for the center armrest - 4 -.
Procedure for all vehicles
- Remove the trim - 1 - using a trim removal wedge (3409).
- Unclip the indicator lamp - 2 - from the trim - 1 -.
Vehicles with a manual transmission
- Remove the gearshift knob and boot.
- Remove the noise insulation - 1 - from the center console.
Vehicles with automatic transmission
- Remove the handle.
Vehicles with a DSG transmission
- Remove the selector lever handle.
Vehicles without Climatronic
- Remove the heater controls.
Vehicles with Climatronic
- Remove the A/C controls or Climatronic.
Procedure for all vehicles
- Remove the bolts - 1 - (1.5 Nm) and remove the center console cover - 2 -.
- Disconnect the 12 V socket (U5) wiring harness, if equipped.
- Disconnect the wiring harness from the start system button (E378).
- Remove the bolts - 1 - from the center console - 2 - (1.5 Nm).
- Pull the parking brake lever - 1 - into its highest position.
- Remove the center console - 2 - upward from the vehicle.
Installing
- Install in reverse order of removal. Observe the following when doing so:
• Check all the fasteners for damage and replace if necessary before installing. Replace any damaged components.
