Clutch Slave Cylinder with Release Bearing
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)
• The clutch slave cylinder and the release bearing are a single unit and are replaced together.
• Pay attention to the thread pitch on the bolts when cleaning the threaded hole in the clutch housing.
Requirements:
• Transmission is removed.
Removing
- Pull out the clip - 2 - with a screwdriver or a pointed tool and remove the breather assembly - 4 - from the clutch slave cylinder - 1 -.
- Remove the bolts - arrows -.
- Remove the clutch slave cylinder together with release bearing - A -.
Installing
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal while observing the following:
• Tighten the clutch slave cylinder with release bearing bolts in small increments only.
Otherwise, there is the danger that the tabs for the bolts could break off.
- Tighten the clutch slave cylinder with release bearing bolts to specification. Refer to - item 4 - in => [ Clutch Release Mechanism Overview ] Clutch Release Mechanism Overview.
- Check the seal/O-ring - 3 - for the clutch slave cylinder for damage.
- Push the breather assembly - 4 - onto the clutch slave cylinder - 1 - until the clip - 2 - audibly engages.
- To check, pull on the breather assembly.
- Install the transmission.
- Bleed the clutch system. Refer to => [ Clutch System, Bleeding ] Procedures.
