Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Tensioning Strap (T10038)
• Torque Wrench 40-200 Nm (V.A.G 1332)
• Engine/Gearbox Jack (V.A.G 1383 A)
• Spring Compressor Kit (V.A.G 1752)
Removing
- Raise the vehicle.
Secure Vehicle to Lifting Platform
1. (T10038)
If a vehicle is not secured, there is danger that the vehicle could slip off the lift!
- Remove the plug from the longitudinal member and install the (T10038).
- Remove coil spring. Refer to => [ Coil Spring ] Coil Spring.
Vehicles with Left Rear Level Control System Sensor (G76)
- Release - arrow A - and open the door - 1 -.
Remove the left rear level control system sensor from the crossbrace - 2 - - arrow B -.
Continuation for All Vehicles
- Move the (V.A.G 1383 A) under the axle beam.
- Push the axle beam up until the crossbrace - 2 - is horizontal.
- Remove the threaded connection - 1 -.
- Remove the threaded connection - 1 - and the crossbrace - 2 -.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
Vehicles with Left Rear Level Control System Sensor
- The tab - arrow A - for the crossbrace - 1 - must face the tab - arrow B - for the subframe - 2 -.
Position the left rear level control system sensor onto the crossbrace - 2 - so that it is seated in the tab - arrow B -.
- The door - 1 - must audibly engage with the underside - arrow A -.
Continuation for All Vehicles
- Install the coil spring. Refer to => [ Coil Spring ] Coil Spring.
