Steering Column Cover: Service and Repair







Steering Column Trim

Removing

For reasons of clarity, the steering wheel is not depicted in the illustration, it is not necessary to remove it.

- Release the steering column adjustment lever.

- Pull the steering out and push is down.

- Loosen the gap cover - 2 - from the upper steering column trim mounts - 1 - using trim removal wedge (3409).






3 Trim removal wedge (3409)

- Remove the upper steering column trim - 1 - from the lower steering column trim - 4 - using trim removal wedge (3409).

- Remove the bolt - 1 - from the lower steering column trim - 2 - (1.5 Nm).






- Remove the 2 screws - 1 - (1.5 Nm). Turn the steering wheel so that the bolts are accessible.






- Release the steering column adjustment lever.

- Remove the steering column lower trim piece - 2 - from the steering column.

Installation

- Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

Make sure that the cover - 3 - is correctly inserted into the steering column trim - 2 - for vehicles with keyless stop and start system "Keyless Access".
