Oil Cooler: Service and Repair
Engine Oil Cooler
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)
• Drip Tray for VAS 6100 (VAS 6208)
Removing
Risk of scalding due to hot steam and hot coolant:
• The coolant system is under pressure when the engine is warm.
• Wear protective goggles and protective clothing to prevent damage to eyes and scalding.
• Reduce pressure by covering the coolant expansion tank cap with a cloth and carefully opening.
- Drain the coolant. Refer to => [ Coolant, Draining and Filling ] Service and Repair.
- Remove the accessory bracket. Refer to => [ Accessory Bracket ] Service and Repair.
- Remove the bolts - 4 and 5 - and remove the oil cooler - 3 - together with the gasket - 2 -.
Installing
• Tightening specifications, Refer to => [ Oil Filter Housing/Accessory Bracket Overview ] Service and Repair.
Install in the reverse order of removal. Note the following:
• Always replace gaskets and seals.
• Only use approved clamps for hose connections. Refer to the Parts Catalog.
