Undamaged Side Window, Removing

The following describes removing and installing the left side window. Removing and installing the right side window is identical.

- Remove the side trim.






Protect the surrounding components from damage.

- Pull the cutting cord - 1 - through the adhesive sealant at the location shown in the figure into vehicle interior using the awl (V.A.G 1474/2) from the separating device for bonded windows (V.A.G 1474 A).

- Press the seal to the side so that it is not damaged.

- Insert the cutting cord - 3 - behind the seal into the window flange using the small tube - 1 -.






- Secure a cord end - 3 - to the pull handle (V.A.G 1351/1) - 2 - for counter-holding.






- Also pull the other cord end - 2 - into the interior.

- Secure the second cord end to the reel device (V.A.G 1654 A) - 3 -.

- Cut the window free by using the reel device (V.A.G 1654 A) - 3 - accordingly.

- While cutting, press the cutting cord against the window with a plastic wedge in order to have clearance at the window flange.

- Reel device (V.A.G 1654 A) - 3 - can be used in place of reel device (V.A.G 1654) - 3 -






- As shown in illustration, one suction cup can be removed from the reel device (V.A.G 1654) - 3 -. By doing this, the roller on the reel device (V.A.G 1654 A) - 3 - can be placed closer to the window flange.
