Connecting the Vehicle Diagnostic Tester

Volkswagen offers various testers, for example:

• Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051)

• Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051B)

• Tester (VAS 5051/11A)

• Vehicle Diagnosis and Service System (VAS 5052)

• Diagnosis System (VAS 5053)

The operation of these testers is described in the respective operating instructions.

The following description is based on the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051). Refer to => [ Connecting the ].

Connecting the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051)

• During a test drive you must always secure testing and measuring equipment on the back seat.

• Only the passenger may use the equipment during the road test.

- Connect the connector from the diagnostic cable (VAS 5051/1) or (VAS 5051/3) to the diagnostic connection.






- Turn on the tester - arrow -.






The tester is ready for use when it is possible to select between the fields/buttons Guided Functions and Guided Functions on the right side of the screen.

Depending on equipment and tester version, additional functions may be displayed, for example:

• ElsaWin

• Test Instruments

• OBD

The tester is ready for operation.

- Turn on the ignition.

- Touch a field/button on the display to start the desired function.
