Garage Door Opener (HomeLink(R)), Unable to Program through MMI Interface

Technical Background

The customer is able to program there garage door opener through the HomeLink buttons located on the overhead console. However, customer is unable to program their garage door opener through the MMI due to the body control module is adapted incorrectly from the factory.

Tip:

Refer customers to --> http://homelink.com for list for garage door openers that are compatible with the HomeLink system.

Production Solution

Body Control Module adaption corrected as of VIN BP_BD001254.

Service

Procedure:

Use the following procedure to confirm the correct adaption of the Comfort System Central Control Module (BCM2)

^ Enter Vehicle Self Diagnosis using VAS Tester

^ Select On Board Diagnostics (OBD)

^ Select 46 - Comfort System Central Control Module (BCM2)

^ Select 012 - Adaption

^ Enter in 66 and select Q

^ Verify adaption is 21. If adaption is any other value then 21, change the value to 21 and select Save. Select Accept to verify change in value.

^ Exit out of the scan tool

If adaption is already 21, then this TB does not apply. Additional diagnosis will need to be performed.

Tip:

If possible, learn the system to an available garage door opener. Otherwise, advise the customer to relearn the system with there garage door opener system.
