Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Vehicle Diagnostic, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051B)
• There is a risk of serious or fatal injuries when performing a road test with a (VAS 5051B).
• If the (VAS 5051B) is placed in an area where it could come in contact with a deploying airbag, there is a risk of serious or fatal injuries if the airbag deploys.
• During road tests, have a second person sitting in the rear seat operate the (VAS 5051B).
• All work instructions can be reached in the operating modes "Guided Fault Finding" and "Guided Functions".

• Follow the current operating instructions for (VAS 5051B), which can be displayed after selecting buttons "Administration" and "operator's handbook".
Perform the following work:
- Turn off the ignition and all electrical consumers.
- Apply the parking brake.
- In vehicles with automatic transmissions, move the selector lever to the "P" or "N" position.
- In vehicles with manual transmissions, move the shift lever to the neutral position.
- With the ignition switched off, connect the (VAS 5051B) to the diagnostic connection - arrow -.
- Switch on ignition.
