Selector Mechanism Overview, through 02.2009
Move the selector lever into the "P" position and set the parking brake before working with the engine running.
1 Shift Cover with Handle
• Do not remove the handle unnecessarily. For emergency release, only the cover must be removed. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Manual Release ] Procedures.
• Pull the button past its pressure point before removing the handle. Secure the button with a cable tie or some suitable wire. This prevents the button from being pushed back into the handle accidentally.
• If the button is pushed in:
- Just before installing, pull out the button beyond the pressure point (sense this by touch).

3 Bolt with Spring
• 3 Nm
4 Bolt
• Do not lubricate.
5 Securing Plate
• Always replace after removing.
6 Nut
• 9 Nm
• Quantity: 4
7 Shift Housing
• With the seal.
8 Selector Lever Cable
• Do not grease the cable.
• Checking, refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Checking ] Testing and Inspection.
• Adjusting, refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable, Adjusting ] Adjustments.
9 Nut
• 8 Nm
• Quantity: 4
