Battery
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1331)
Always follow the instructions regarding disconnecting and connecting the battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
Removing
- Disconnect the battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
- Remove the battery case wall in - direction of arrow -.
- Remove the bolt - 1 - and then remove the clamping plate - 2 -.
- Fold up the handles - arrows - and remove the battery.
Installing
If the Battery is not secured properly, the following risks are possible:
• Shortened battery service life due damage caused by vibration (explosion hazard).
• If the battery is not secured properly, the plates inside the battery can get damaged.
• Damage to battery casing caused by clamping plate (possible electrolyte leakage, high subsequent costs).
• Inadequate crash safety.
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
- Tighten the threaded connections to the tightening specifications. Refer to => [ Battery Overview ] Battery Overview.
- Make sure the battery is secure after installing it.
- Connect the battery. Refer to => [ Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting ] Battery, Disconnecting and Connecting.
