Headlamp

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1410)

Removing

It is not necessary to disconnect battery.

Illustrations depict removal and installation of right headlamp.

The procedure for removing and installing the left headlamp is the same.

If one headlamp is removed, it must always be adjusted after installation. Refer to => Maintenance Procedures.

Always perform a basic setting to the headlamp after installing it, if it was removed.

- Switch off the ignition and all electrical consumers and remove the key or move the start button to the 0 position.

During removal and installation, leave ignition key with remote control inside the vehicle to prevent the doors from locking and possibly activating the "Coming Home / Leaving Home" functions on its own.

- Disconnect the connector - 1 -.






- Remove the radiator grille.

- Loosen the front bumper cover.

- Remove both bolts - arrows - from the front of the headlamp.






- Remove both bolts - arrows -.






The rear bolt can be reached through an opening in the body panel.

- Pull the headlamp forward to remove it from the body opening.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Tighten all the bolts to the specification shown in => [ Halogen Headlamps ] Halogen Headlamps or => [ HID Headlamps With Cornering Lamp ] HID Headlamps With Cornering Lamp.

- Check installation position of headlamp for uniform gap dimensions.

If headlamp has an uneven gap dimension to the body, installation position must be corrected. Refer to => [ Headlamps, Correcting Installation Position ] Headlamps, Correcting Installation Position.

- Check headlamp for function.

If one headlamp is removed, it must always be adjusted after installation.

- Check headlamp adjustment and adjust headlamp if necessary.
