Wheel Bearing Housing, Wheel Hub with Bearing and Trailing Arm Overview
The - arrow - points in the driving direction.
1 Cap for Bracket
2 Bracket
3 Coupling Rod
• Connects the stabilizer bar to the trailing arm and wheel bearing housing.
4 Bolt
• 90 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.
• Observe the tightening sequence, refer to => [ Position: Threaded Connection of the Trailing Arm/Wheel Bearing Housing ] Removal and Replacement.
• Always replace if removed.
5 Trailing Arm
• There are different versions, refer to => [ Trailing Arm Characteristics ] Procedures.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Trailing Arm with Bracket ] Removal and Replacement.
• Bonded rubber bushing replacing. Refer to => [ Trailing Arm Bonded Rubber Bushings ] Service and Repair.
• Note the tie rod allocation when replacing them. Refer to => [ Allocation of the Tie Rods for the Trailing Arms ] Procedures.
6 Drive Axle

• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Drive Axle ] Drive Axle.
7 Bolt
• M14 x 1.5 x 45
• 70 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.
• Always replace if removed.
8 Wheel Bearing Housing
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Wheel Bearing Housing ] Wheel Bearing Housing.
9 Right Rear ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (G44) / Left Rear ABS Wheel Speed Sensor (G46)
• Can be checked in Guided Fault Finding using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
• Before inserting the sensor, clean the inner surface of the mounting hole and coat with lubricating paste (G 000 650).
10 Bolt
• M6 x 16
• 8 Nm
11 Bonded Rubber Bushing

12 Nut
• 45 Nm
• Always replace if removed.
13 Brake Rotor
14 Bolt
• 4 Nm
15 Bolt
• There are different versions.
• Allocation, refer to the Parts Catalog.
• There are 2 types of twelve point bolts, with and without ribs.
• When installing a twelve point bolt, always check what type of bolt is to be used.
• Use the correct tightening specification for the specific bolt.
• The tightening specification for a twelve point bolt with ribs is 70 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn. For loosening and tightening specifications. • The tightening specification for a twelve point bolt without ribs is 200 Nm + an additional 180° (1/4) turn. • Always replace if removed.
16 Wheel Hub with Bearing
• The sensor ring for the Anti-lock Brake System (ABS) is installed on the wheel hub.
• Removing and installing, refer to => [ Wheel Hub with Bearing ] Wheel Hub with Bearing.
The wheel hub and bearing are installed together in a housing.
This wheel bearing and hub is maintenance and adjustment free. Adjusting or servicing is not possible!
17 Bolt
• M6 x 12
• 12 Nm
18 Cover Plate
19 Bolt
• M12 x 1.5 x 80
• 90 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.
• Always replace if removed.
20 Bonded Rubber Bushing
• Replacing, refer to => [ Trailing Arm Bonded Rubber Bushings ] Service and Repair.
21 Bolt
• M10 x 35
• 50 Nm + an additional 90° (1/4) turn.
• Always replace if removed.
Differences Between a Twelve Point Bolt With Ribs and a Bolt Without Ribs
The contact surfaces - arrows A and B - are different on the two bolts.
