Radio, Navigation RNS 315, Updated Programming for System Reset

Technical Background

Software problem in RNS 315 causes unit to reset if the vehicle position is west of 1280 longitude. The problem only occurs in Alaska, Hawaii and the Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Yukon.

Verify RNS 315 Software

^ Select Vehicle Self-Diagnosis

^ Select on Board Diagnostics (OBD)

^ Select 37 - Navigation

^ Select 003 - Identification

^ Select 003.01 Identification Master

^ Select Software Version

^ Verify the software is not 11 or higher

Tip:
If software level is found to be at 11 or higher, this technical bulletin DOES NOT apply, further diagnosis is required.

Update Programming

Reprogram navigation unit with CD - Literature Number: RNS315FLSH11.





^ Insert key and turn to the on position without starting up the vehicle

^ If necessary, remove customer Compact Disc (CD) from radio, and store in a sate place

^ Insert programming CD RNS315FLSH11 into the radio Press the Start icon on the screen

^ Press Ok to start flash

Tip:
The flash will take approximately 10 minutes to complete.





^ Once the software update succeeded OK screen is seen, remove the flash disc and store in a secure spot

^ If necessary, reload customers music CD

Tip:
If the problem still occurs after the update programming is complete, contact technical assistance by selecting the "Technical Assistance" tab in ElsaWeb and follow the instructions to obtain a 6 digit access code.
