Rear Coolant Pipe







Rear Coolant Pipe

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose Clip Pliers (V.A.G 1921)

Removing

- Drain the coolant. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] Draining and Filling.

- Remove the turbocharger. Refer to => [ Charge Air System with Turbocharger ] Charge Air System with Turbocharger.

- Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to => [ Exhaust System Components ] Exhaust System Components.

- Remove the bolts - 1 and 3 - ; then push the left coolant pipe on the back of the transmission downward.





The installed location is shown with the engine removed.

Ignore - 2 and 4 - and the - arrows -.

- Disconnect the electrical connector - 4 - from the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) sensor (G62).





- Remove the bolts - 1 and 2 - and remove the rear coolant pipe from the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler.

- Loosen the clamp - 3 - and remove the rear coolant pipe.

Installing

Installation is performed in reverse order of removal, noting the following:

Tightening specifications, refer to => [ Coolant Pipes Overview ] Description and Operation.

Replace O-ring.

The hose connections as well as the charge air pipes and hoses must be free of oil and grease before installing.

Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model type, refer to the parts catalog.

- Fill the cooling system. Refer to => [ Draining and Filling ] Draining and Filling.
