Front Caliper Piston
Front Caliper Piston
The removal and installation of the pistons is identical for the various brake calipers.
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Trim Removal Wedge (3409)
• Piston Resetting Tool (T10145)
Removing
- Force the pistons out individually from the brake caliper housing using compressed air.
Only one piston can be pressed out at a time. When doing this, hold the opposing piston in the caliper housing using the (T10145) - a -. Block the other pistons, using a wood block - b -. In addition, place a wooden board - c - in front of the (T10145) so that the piston will not be damaged when pressed out.
- Remove the seal using the (3409).
When removing, make sure that surface of the cylinder is not damaged.
Installing
- The surface of the piston and seal must only be cleaned with mineral spirits and then dried.
- Apply a thin coat of assembly paste (G 052 150 A2) on the piston and seal before installing.
- Insert oil seal into brake caliper.
- Install the protective cap on the piston.
- Using equal pressure, push the piston into the brake caliper housing.
