- Remove the A-pillar trim.
- Remove all sun visors.
- Remove the interior rearview mirror.
- For the procedure when working on a vehicle with a rain/light recognition sensor
- Remove headliner..
- The headliner can now be lowered far enough so that windshield can be cut out without damaging headliner.
- Information for vehicles with assistance systems.
- Loosen the ground wire - 5 - at the bolt - 6 - and secure the Kapton wire on the window glass with adhesive tape.
- Disconnect the connections - 2 and 3 - in the plenum chamber and unclip them from the mount. Kapton wires - 1 and 4 - must be secured to windshield with adhesive tape.
• Make sure that wires are not damaged when windshield is cut out. The windshield must be replaced if the wires are damaged.
- Install the cover for dash panel (V.A.G 1474/19) - 1 - between the windshield and the instrument panel.
- Pull the cutting wire - 2 - with the awl (V.A.G 1474/2) through the adhesive inside the passenger compartment.
- Secure the cutting wire end from being pulled out using the pull handle (V.A.G 1351/1) - 3 -.
- Insert cutting cord - 2 - into windshield flange using small tube - 1 -.
- Lay cutting thread around windshield.
- Make sure that cutting thread is inserted at the corners under the windshield.
- Secure the second cord end to the spooling tool (V.A.G 1654 A).
- Set spooling tool (V.A.G 1654 A) into "Position I".
- Move the reel device (V.A.G 1654 A) according to the position required and cut the windshield free.
- While cutting free, press cutting cord against windshield using the plastic wedge in order to have clearance from the windshield flange and instrument cluster.

Adhesive Sealant, Removing from Window
- Using adhesive remover is recommended. Always follow the safety precautions when using adhesive remover.
When cleaning from vehicle interior out, the window just installed must not be pressed outward.
- Wipe the paint surfaces with a clean cloth. Remove the residual adhesive with the adhesive remover.
- Clean the plastic trim: let the adhesive sealant harden for approximately 1 hour and then peel it off.
