Battery Terminals, Checking for Secure Seating

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque wrench (V.A.G 1331)





Tight battery connections assure trouble-free battery function and long service life.

- Open thermal sheath (if present).





Press together tabs - arrows - and fold cover forward.





- Check battery terminal clamps - 4 - and - 5 - are seated securely on the battery terminals by moving the battery positive wire - 2 - and the battery Ground (GND) wire - 3 - back and forth by hand.

CAUTION!
If the battery clamp is not seated securely on the positive terminal, disconnect battery Ground (GND) clamp on battery negative terminal (B-) first, to prevent possible accidents.

If the battery clamp on positive terminal is not seated securely:





- First disconnect battery clamp - 5 - at battery minus pole.

- Tighten battery positive (B+) connection to 5 Nm.

- Re-connect battery clamp - 5 - on battery negative terminal and tighten to 5 Nm.

If ground connection on battery is not tight:

- Tighten the battery clamp - 5 - on the battery negative terminal to 5 Nm.
