Resetting Without Scan Tool

Reset Service Reminder Indicator using the adjustment button for odometer and clock at instrument cluster

Note:
- At the delivery inspection, vehicles with LongLife service (PR number QG1) are not to have the service interval display reset with the adjusting button for distance and time on the instrument panel insert. Reason: if the service interval display is reset using the distance and time adjusting button in the instrument cluster, the cluster will automatically code itself to non-flexible, i.e. "time- or distance-dependent".

- If engine oil conforming to VW-norm 503 00 (gasoline) or VW-norm 506 00 (TDI) or 506 01 (pump injector TDI) was used at inspection service for vehicles with "LongLife Service" (PR-number QG1), Service Reminder Indicator (SRI) must not be reset with the adjustment buttons for odometer and clock at instrument panel insert. Reason: if the service interval display is reset using the distance and time adjusting button in the instrument cluster, the cluster will automatically code itself to non-flexible, i.e. "time- or distance-dependent".

- For vehicles with LongLife Service (PR-number QG1) which come in for an oil change after approximately 15,000 km or 12 months, the Service Reminder Indicator (SRI) must be recoded to non-flexible. Reason: this ensures that these vehicles return to the normal LongLife Service interval.

Resetting Service Reminder Indicator is performed via push button -1- for daily kilometer zero setting when instrument cluster is found in "reset mode".

Initiating reset mode:
- Turn off ignition.
- Press and hold push button -1- for daily kilometer zero setting.

- Turn off ignition.
