Input Shaft Seal

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Needle Bearing Drift (VW 295)

• Adapter (VW 295 A)

• Thrust Tube (VW 454)

• Press Tube (2040)

- Remove the transmission.

- Remove the clutch release lever with release bearing and guide sleeve. Refer to => [ Clutch Release Lever with Release Bearing ] Service and Repair.

- Drive the seal out of the guide sleeve.






• Be careful not to damage the contact surface for the seal on the input shaft.

- Fill the space between the sealing and dust lips - arrow - half way with sealing grease for seal (G 052 128 A1).






- Lightly coat the outer circumference of the seal with transmission fluid.

- Install the seal all the way into the guide sleeve.






- Install the clutch release lever with release bearing and guide sleeve. Refer to => [ Clutch Release Lever with Release Bearing ] Service and Repair.

- Install the transmission.
