Mounting Bracket

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Hose Clamps up to 25 mm Dia. (3094)

Torque Wrench (5-50 Nm) (V.A.G 1331)

Sealing Tool (T10249)

Removing

- First, check whether a coded radio is installed. If so, obtain the anti-theft code.

- Remove the battery and, if necessary, remove the rear panel on the battery case.

While performing the following step, make sure no brake fluid comes into contact with the longitudinal member or the transmission. If it does, clean the area thoroughly.

Place a lint free cloth under the master cylinder.






- Clamp off the supply hose to the master cylinder using a hose clamp up to 25 mm dia. (3094).

- Remove the supply hose - 1 - from the clutch master cylinder.

- Moreover, when disconnecting, seal the hose using the sealing tool (T10249/1) (see the upper illustration).






- Pull out the clip - 2 - with a screwdriver or a pointed tool and disconnect the hose/line assembly - 3 - from the master cylinder.

- Unclip the clutch position sensor (G476) from the master cylinder - arrow - and remove it with the connector - 4 - still connected.

When working in the floor area, cover the carpet with a cloth to protect against any leaking brake fluid.

- Remove the driver's side trim and the cover under the trim.






- Remove the wire guide - 2 - from the steering column.

- Remove the foot well vent - 3 -.

- Remove the impact bolster support bolt - 2 - and support - 1 -.






Remove the damper - arrow - at the bottom of the bracket/clutch pedal, if equipped.






- Remove the washers - A - for the damper.






- Remove the damper.

- Push the insulation near the nut - 1 - above the clutch pedal - A - upward in - direction of arrow -.






- Remove the nuts - 1 - and - 2 -.






The upper nut - 1 - is accessible between the relay carrier and steering column trim.

- Remove the bracket - 3 -.

Installing

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal while observing the following:

Replace the self-locking nuts.

Some vehicles have a sound absorber - arrow - over the clutch pedal bracket.






- Install the sound absorber back into its installed position.

- Install the impact bolster support - 1 - and tighten the bolt - 2 - to specification.






- Install the wire guide - 2 - to the steering column.






- Install the foot well vent - 3 -.

- Install the driver's side trim and the cover under the trim.

- Insert the hose/line assembly - 1 - into the master cylinder - 4 - with a new seal - 2 - until the clip - 3 - engages audibly.






- Pull on the hose/line assembly to make sure it is secure.

- Remove the hose clamp up to 25 mm dia. (3094) and bring the supply hose back to its original shape.

- Bleed the clutch system. Refer to => [ Clutch System, Bleeding ] Service and Repair.

- Install the battery.

Tightening Specifications
