Rear Wheel Housing Crash Sensors, 4-door, Golf 2004

Removal and installation is described for the right side of the vehicle. Removing and installing on the left side is identical.

Removing


Always read the General Safety Precautions before working on airbags, belt tensioners and battery cut-out units (pyrotechnical components). - Disconnect the battery.

- Remove the seat bench. Refer to => [ Bench Seat ] Bench Seat

Vehicles through 06.05

- Remove 4-door side upholstery:

With rear side airbag, refer to => [ Side Upholstery with Side Airbag, 4-door ] Side Upholstery with Side Airbag, 4-door

Without rear side airbag, refer to => [ Side Upholstery, 4-door ] Side Upholstery, 4-door

- Remove the wheel housing trim (4-door vehicle). Refer to => [ Wheel Housing Trim, 4-door ] Wheel Housing Trim, 4-door

Vehicles with rear side airbag, from 06.05

- Remove 4-door side upholstery:

With rear side airbag, refer to => [ Side Upholstery with Side Airbag, 4-door ] Side Upholstery with Side Airbag, 4-door

- Remove the wheel housing trim (4-door vehicle). Refer to => [ Wheel Housing Trim, 4-door ] Wheel Housing Trim, 4-door

Vehicles without rear side airbag, from 06.05

- Remove wheel housing trim on 4-door vehicles without rear side airbag => [ Trim, Wheel Housing, 4-door, Without Side Airbag, from 06.05 ] Trim, Wheel Housing, 4-door, Without Side Airbag, from 06.05

- Press connector lock - 1 - toward rear - arrow - and disconnect connector - 2 - from crash sensor - 4 -.

- Remove the two bolts - 3 - (9 Nm).






Installation

- Install in reverse order of removal.

- Switch on ignition.


Make sure no one is in the vehicle.

- Connect the battery.
