Antitheft Motion Sensor: Service and Repair






Anti-Theft Alarm System Sensor (G578)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Trim Removal Wedge (3409)

When removing and installing components in a visible area (switches, covers, trim, etc.), mask off the areas at which a prying tool ( (3409) , screwdriver) will be positioned, using commercially available adhesive tape.

The following illustrations show removing and installing the anti-theft alarm system sensor from the front interior lamp on a vehicle with a sunroof. Removing and installing the anti-theft alarm system sensor from the front interior lamp on vehicles without a sunroof is identical.

Removal

- Switch off ignition, switch off all electrical consumers and remove ignition key.

- Remove front interior light:

Vehicles with an anti-theft alarm system, refer to => [ Front Interior Lamp (W1), With Anti-Theft Warning System ] Front Interior Lamp (W1), With Anti-Theft Warning System

Vehicles without an anti-theft alarm system, refer to => [ Front Interior Lamp (W1), Without Anti-Theft Warning System ] Front Interior Lamp (W1), Without Anti-Theft Warning System

- Open the tabs - arrows - and remove the anti-theft alarm system sensor - 1 - from the interior lamp. Pay attention to the wires still connected.






- Unclip the wires from the mounts - 1 -.






- Release the clips - arrows - and pull both interior monitoring sensors - 2 - out of the interior lamp.

- Remove the anti-theft alarm system sensor from the vehicle.

Installation

Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
