Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Resetting & Extracting Tool (T10165)

Trim Removal Wedge (3409)

Removing

- Remove the piston from the brake caliper by turning the resetting & extracting tool (T10165) thumb wheel toward the left.

Insert the resetting & extracting tool (T10165) so the collar makes contact on the piston.






For pistons that are difficult to move, an open end wrench (13 mm) can be used at the appropriate wrench surface - arrow A -.

- Remove the seal using the trim removal wedge (3409).






Installing

- The surface of the piston and seal must only be cleaned with mineral spirits and then dried.

- Thinly coat the piston and seal using lithium grease (G 052 150 A2) before installing.

- Place the protective cap with outer sealing lip on the piston.






- Insert the inner sealing lip in the cylinder groove using the trim removal wedge (3409).

Hold the piston in front of the brake caliper for this procedure.






- Install the piston by turning the thumb wheel on the resetting & extracting tool (T10165) toward the right.

- Use the component part of T10165 tool (T10165/1) for assistance when installing.






Insert the resetting & extracting tool (T10165) so the collar makes contact on the brake caliper.

The automatic adjustment in the brake caliper is destroyed when the piston is moved using the resetting & extracting tool (T10165) or the brake pedal is pressed.
